By John Thomas Tuft

I bow my head to give a quiet thanks

For all the nothings in my life

For all the spaces left unfilled

Leaving no confusion, causing no strife.

On a day of reflection and gratitude

I want to give thanks for nothing to regret

For choosing the road less traveled

Giving no pain that I ask you to forget.

Gathering with others to celebrate gratitude

I offer up nothing to fear

Walking bravely into the shadows

To let you know that I’m offering to hear.

As the blessing is acknowledged

With many a word piled high

I’m thankful for words left unsaid

No fear, no regret, accepting of goodbye.
