I’LL BE THE MOON

By John Thomas Tuft

If you are the ball of fire in the sky

Giving light and heat to my fractured heart

Fearless in where you cast your rays with abandon

Then I’ll be the moon in the night doing my part.

Reflecting your illumination on souls in the dark

As they count the hours hoping the dawn comes soon

Fearing the emptiness of the shadows all around

If you will be my sun, I’ll be the moon.

Circling in a dance older than the unknown

Drawn together like impatient lovers in a room

Invisible forces spinning us into harmony

If you will be my sun, I’ll be the moon.
